How to edit a video with Claude

Claude can plan an edit. Clypmint makes it. Connect Clypmint to Claude, attach your video and say what you want. Clypmint cuts the video and adds captions and graphics. You watch the result in the conversation, ask for changes in plain words, and open the same project in Clypmint Studio. Free to make and watch, a paid plan to download.

Updated October 20, 2026. Or read this guide as plain text for your assistant.

Quick start

  1. Connect Clypmint to Claude.
  2. Start a new conversation and attach your video.
  3. Say what you want in a sentence or two.
  4. Watch the result and ask for changes.
  5. Download it with a paid plan, or fix details in Studio.

What you need

  • A Claude account where you can add a connector. On Team and Enterprise, your administrator adds it first.
  • A Clypmint account. Free to make and watch, a paid plan to download.
  • A video you shot, or just an idea. Use only footage you have the right to use.
  • Optional: a song, or a link to a video whose editing you like.

The steps

  1. Connect Clypmint

Paste the install line into Claude Code, or connect Clypmint by hand. Either way, sign in to your Clypmint account when asked. Sign-in happens in your browser. Never paste a password or a token into the conversation.

    Paste one line to install
Read https://clypmint.com/claude.md and set up Clypmint in Claude for me.
Paste it into a new Claude Code session, in the terminal or the desktop app. It needs Claude Code, which can run commands on your computer. claude.ai in a browser cannot, so use the steps below.
    Or connect it by hand

Connect Clypmint in Claude, Cowork or Claude Desktop.

    1. Open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.
    2. Name it Clypmint, enter the server URL and choose Sign in when needed.
    3. Connect your Clypmint account, then enable the connector in your conversation.
    Open Claude Connectors ↗
    https://clypmint.com/mcp

Team and Enterprise members need their administrator to add the connector first. This is a Clypmint custom connector; Anthropic directory verification is separate. A connector exposes tools. Install the Clypmint plugin bundle for its agent skills.

    Try your first edit
Use Clypmint to edit my talking video for Reels. Show me the styles first, cut the pauses and add readable captions. Keep my words. Give me an upload link if you cannot use my attachment.

Your Clypmint plan and credits apply. If your chat cannot pass a video attachment, Clypmint gives you a private upload page. Ask for a change after watching the result.

  2. Start a new conversation

Tools load when a conversation starts, so start a new one after you connect Clypmint. Switch the connector on for that conversation. In Claude Code, run /mcp to sign in, then start a new session.

  3. Attach your video

Drop the file into the conversation. If Claude cannot pass the file on, Clypmint gives you a private upload link. It works for 15 minutes. Upload there and the same edit carries on.

  4. Say what you want

Say what the video is for, how long it should be, what to keep and what to leave out. Ask for the list of styles first if you want to choose one. You do not need a perfect request. You can change anything after you see the first cut.

    For example:

Use Clypmint to edit my talking video for Reels. Show me the styles first, cut the pauses and add readable captions. Keep my words. Give me an upload link if you cannot use my attachment.
  5. Watch it work

The video card shows progress and plays the finished edit. Ask how it is going at any time. Your last version stays until the new one is ready.

  6. Ask for changes

Say it the way you would tell an editor. Make the opening faster. Make the captions smaller. Spell my name with two Ns. Fixing a caption word or changing a scene directly is free.

  7. Download it, or keep going in Studio

Downloading needs a paid plan. Studio holds the same project, so you can change scenes and captions directly.

  • Names, numbers and prices in the captions.
  • The first three seconds. Would you stop scrolling?
  • The last line, and any link or offer.
  • Music you do not own. Social apps may mute it.
  • Any claim you would not say out loud yourself.

If something goes wrong

Clypmint does not show up

Start a new conversation, because tools load when it starts. If it is still missing, refresh the tools list in your connection settings. In Claude Code, update the Clypmint plugin, sign in again with /mcp and start a new session.

The connection expired

Reconnect Clypmint in your Claude connection settings. Then carry on with the same request. You do not need to start the edit again.

The attachment will not transfer

Ask Clypmint for a private upload link. It works for 15 minutes. If it runs out, ask for a new one and use the same file.

The first edit is too generic

Add three things: where the video will post, the style you want and what to keep. Or show Clypmint a video you like and ask it to edit yours that way.

It says you are out of credits

Your Clypmint plan sets your credits. Check them in Studio, or pick a plan on the pricing page. Ask Clypmint to price a request before it starts.
